The Ocean’s Gift sculpture was designed by pressing clay into barnacles and shells living on a fourteen-million-year-old lava flow that reaches the shore at Yaquina Head, on the Oregon coast. Among the ancient people who lived in the area, shamans derived power from guardian spirits in the natural world around them, bringing back messages from the spirit world to their people for healing. 

A small wick in the hole at the bottom of the tidepool draws in drops of sacred water, allowing you to carry the essence of any sacred site or experience. When the cloth is left in place, the water wicks into the clay body, holding the living vibration and magnetism of each place you bring her. The mermaid is removable.
